Abutalib-Barish Namazov
Hi, I’m Barish. I grew up in Baku, Azerbaijan and graduated from MIT in 2024 with an undergraduate degree. MIT was quite fun, so I decided go back to pursue a PhD there. My about page tells more about my background.
A lot of my research explores a handful of questions about software: what personal computing could mean again, how small conveniences quietly become infrastructure, and what it would take to make software more honest about the role it plays. I keep notes, projects, and half-formed ideas in a separate place I call my atelier. It’s more workshop than gallery, so expect rough edges.
While I’m a fan of computers, more than the machines I care about the people around them — trying to leave the communities I’m part of a little better than I found them. Mostly I like building things that are fast, reliable, and well-crafted, and figuring out why so much of what we use isn’t. Teaching and mentoring are a parts of my life.
If something here catches your interest, I’d be glad to hear from you — feel free to reach out at [email protected].
